Weather Policy

The safety of our players, coaches, employees, volunteers and fans is the most important consideration. Every effort will be made to play the games as scheduled. While the ultimate concern of GYB is the safety of our extended GYB family, we will not place anyone in a dangerous situation in order to play a game on an unsafe field or during dangerous weather conditions This may result in situations when we will be unable to make an early decision and people will not be notified that games have been cancelled until they arrive at the fields just prior to game time. As a result, we request that players make every effort to make it to the game unless notified that the games have been cancelled. In the event that games are cancelled, in most instances, we will find a way to make the game up at a later time.

Inclement Weather

The President and/or Director of Facilities will make a determination as to whether weather conditions preclude games or the fields are otherwise unplayable. In most instances, GYB will make its decision no later than 3:30 p.m. for games played Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. for games played on Saturday, and 12:00 p.m. for games played on Sunday.

Once a decision is made to cancel games, and time permits, the President and/or Director of Facilities Management will attempt to notify the affected League Commissioners. The League Commissioners will in turn be responsible for notifying the managers of the affected teams if time permits. Team managers will be responsible for contacting their players if time permits.
